Woking didn’t manage to add to their recent good form as they crumbled in Greater Manchester. Despite an early Marcus Dackers strike, The Cards fell to what is their worst defeat of the season.

The visitors had the first chance when Josh Casey and Rhys Browne worked well down the left-hand side before a cross was volleyed over by Rohan Ince.

A quarter of an hour into the game, Jake Hessenthaler put in a cross which found Dackers, who headed home with ease. This was his first goal for the club since arriving on loan from Salford City in January.

Just over ten minutes later, Woking conceded back-to-back penalties in the space of four days and Regan Linney made no mistake from the spot, as he put his side back on level terms.

The Robins were all over Woking after the equaliser, with the Surrey side constantly being dragged into their own half.

HT: 1-1

In the second half, Darren Sarll brought on Luke Wilkinson for Joe McNerney and he almost gave The Cards the lead, when he volleyed over from just outside the six-yard box following a corner.

The hosts took the lead on the hour mark when Isaac Marriott won the ball on the halfway line and drove forward, feeding Linney whose low cross was converted by Maxi Oyedele. This was the youngster’s first senior goal since joining on loan from Manchester United.

Altrincham wrapped the game up towards the end when Linney, involved again, went down the left and played a low cross into the box that was only half cleared, resulting in a chance that Josh Lundstram had no hesitation in putting away.

FT: 3-1

Woking was let off the hook with results elsewhere going their way but from a performance standpoint, that simply put wasn’t good enough. Teams are allowed blips, especially these boys who have been phenomenal all season, but you’ve still got to fight for 90 minutes.

Next up is a massive game at home to playoff pushers Bromley and there’s no better place to put things right than a Tuesday night under the lights at Kingfield! #COYCards
