U19’s Alliance League Cup First Round, 5th October 2022, 2:00pm, Southall, Greater London.
Woking FC (2nd XI) U19’s put on a spectacular display as they demolished London Tigers U19’s 1-14 in the first round of the U19 Alliance League Cup. Spikes Bridge Park witnessed a demolition as The Cards eased their way through to the second round. The Tigers came into this game with low confidence after their 0-29 defeat to Hertford Town U19’s last week and so it seems that it is going to be a very long season for them.
Amaran Subramaniam got the goalscoring started to put the visitors in front and Lewis Myrtollari then made it two shortly after. The Division E side lost their opening league game to Maidenhead United CT U19 Development 3-0 a week ago but managed to put that behind them as they scored their third through Seif Elmassri. The fourth and fifth then rounded out the first half thanks to goals from Ellis Down and Bradley Murphy which well and truly put the game to bed.
In the second half, the floodgates really started to open and it was clear that Woking FC (2nd XI) U19’s weren’t going to sit back on their hefty lead. Amaran Subramaniam got the next forty-five minutes underway and bagged his second of the afternoon to make it six. Charlie Grover then got in on the act as The Cards stomped their authority once more in Southall. The eighth and ninth goal weren’t far behind the corner as Seif Elmassri got his second and George Collins got the other. London Tigers U19’s managed to get themselves a surprise consolation, thanks to a goal from the penalty spot and will surely try to use that positive moment to slowly but surely build up the teams’ cohesion. Joe Hurel will most certainly be disappointed at not managing to keep a clean sheet in between the Woking sticks. London Tigers thirty seconds of fame though came crashing down, as they unsurprisingly found themselves back to reality as Collins got his brace for the visitors. This meant that the hosts had now conceded double figures in back-to-back games. Amaran Subramaniam then got his third and a hat-trick which meant that he’d be taking home the match ball. Lewis Myrtollari on the other hand, had something to say about that as he scored the twelfth and thirteenth meaning that he would be sharing the ball with Subramaniam. Ethan Gold then got his first and the game’s final goal as this one-sided contest concluded.
Speaking to Woking FC (2nd XI) U19’s coach Bailey Westwood after the game, he said, “We went into the game with really high expectations and quickly learnt that there is going to be plenty of chances for us to score goals.” Following on from that, he told the players at half time to “puff out their chests and really show what they are about in front of goal.”
When asked about what the aim is in the Alliance League Cup this season, he responded saying, “The aspirations are to be the best we can possibly be in any competitions we’re in and it’s down to the players and staff as a group to really reflect how we’re doing in those respective campaigns.”
The draw for the next round will take place on Thursday 13th October. Woking FC (2nd XI) U19’s are back in league action next week as they take on Dover Athletic U19’s.
