Match Preview:

Wembley host mid-table side Harefield United in the A404 derby, looking to build on last week’s 3-1 win against North Greenford. A win could see The Lions move up to 6th in the standings, just nine points off the top.

Wembley currently sits 7th in the table after 14 games. Their home form is something to be proud of, boasting seven wins from nine. They have only won away once this season, showing how vital Vale Farm is to the club.

The hosts are still yet to draw a game this season with eight wins and six losses from their 14 league games. Despite that unwelcome record, they have managed to get over the line more times than not.

Vale Farm and Preston Park, the two home grounds of these sides, are separated by just a 30-minute drive down the A404. This is Harefield United’s first season in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Premier Division North, due to playing in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division last season.

Wembley have played an extra game, compared to their opponents and find themselves seven points better off. Harefield’s away form is fairly impressive with five wins and a draw from their nine games on the road in all competitions.

Devante Jones will be hoping he can add to his hat-trick last time out, with another 5-star performance for The Lions. All three of his goals were created and scored by himself, so will maybe be looking for some extra support this time around. His three league goals last week, saw him move to second in the club’s top goalscorer charts, one behind Joshua Blaize-Carr.

Harefield finished in 11th last season and they currently find themselves continuing where they left off in their new league. Despite losing 16 of their 38 league games last season, they had a positive goal difference, which proves that they can create and score goals, but Wembley will be looking to discover where the leaky defence lies.

This season, The Hares come into the game with back-to-back victories in both the league and FA Vase, so will be hoping to add a third to their list. The danger threat for Wembley is the front three that United poses. Trey Pender-Brown, Richard Pacquette and Harry Laflin have got a combined total of 31 goals between them in all competitions. Pender-Brown is the top goalscorer with 12, whilst Laflin has nine in ten appearances.

Wembley will know that this is a tougher test than last Saturday but will believe that they can get over the line to claim another three points. Goalkeeper Charlie Wealands will also hope to claim his first clean sheet in over a month to add to last week’s penalty save.

The contest will most likely be a fiery North-West London derby on Saturday, with Ian Bates’ side hoping to continue their push for promotion into the 8th tier of the English pyramid. #COYLions

“We’ve got to take that one on the chin and say it does happen”

Chris Allen on today’s 0-2 defeat to Harefield United.

FT: Wembley 0-2 Harefield United.

Disappointing performance from The Lions as the final ball on the day just wasn’t there.

Full focus must now turn to Edgware & Kingsbury next Saturday.

90+2' | Tyrer has a chance to pull one back but scuffs his effort.

90' | There will be an additional six minutes added on. We’re into #FIFAWorldCup territory…

89' | A good ball from Jones finds Yassine, but he can't quite get it under control in the box.

88' | Charlie Wealands with a great double save to deny Harefield putting the game to bed.

85' | For the second time in a matter of minutes, Swash has misjudged a high ball in the air. He’s looking tired but keeps battling away. Proper team spirit. Fighting until the end!

80' | According to a Spurs U15 reject to my right, Larrington has been Wembley’s best player on the day so far…

Huge praise that.

79' | CHANCE! Mitchell-Brown’s shot is saved by Ballheimer and goes out for a corner.

78' | Chris Allen with some prime Antonio Rüdiger content today at the back.

75' | Substitution: Moore is replaced by Sefton.

74' | Larrington goes into the referee’s book for a professional foul on the counter.

71' | Wembley with the fair amount of possession, but just can’t find that final third pass. Twenty minutes to go…

62' | Substitution: Lawson-Hatch is replaced by Mitchell-Brown. Double barrel nightmare…

60' | Corner ball to Wembley, as the Harefield defender smashes the ball into the @skybet stand.

57' | CHANCE! Larrington’s deflected shot from outside the box is tipped over by Ballheimer. Keep fighting lads…

55' | Substitution: First change from the hosts. Rowe is replaced by Anwar.

50' | The important news that you must all know is that the lino on our side was offered some chips, but respectfully declined

47' | Yellow Card: Neal is booked for a foul on Fehmi-Gil.

46' | And we’re back underway! Come on Wembley!

HT: Wembley have had their chances and arguably don’t deserve to be down by two..

This game isn’t over just yet.

45+1' | Jones has been Wembley’s best attacking threat so far and his first time shot was saved by the ‘keeper.

Lawson-Hatch then picked up the rebound but Bonner, with some heroic defending, put his body on the line to keep his side’s two goal lead.

44' | Lawson-Hatch is superbly played in by Larrington, but his cross isn’t met by anyone.

Keep pushing Lions!

42' | Jones is played through but great tracking back from Mano sees him take on his shot early, resulting in an easy save for Ballheimer.

38' | Yellow Card: Jones goes down in the box but is booked for a dive. Terrible decision.

36' | The floodlights are officially on. It’s 3:40pm. England for you.

35' | Rowe has space out on the left, but his cross can only find the side netting.

33' | Pender-Brown skips past his man but shanks his shot wide.

32' | The resulting shot is just wide by Shaw.

31' | Tyrer gives away a free kick on the edge of the box.

26' | Fehmi-Gil is down receiving treatment. Doesn’t look too serious.

Wembley players are receiving a stern word from Ian Bates.

24' | Devante Jones is through on goal but fouls Neal in the build up.

21' | Goal for Harefield. Samuel Shaw.

18' | Tag Rowe blazes over from outside the box. Good spell from Wembley though.

16' | Free kick to Wembley in their half.

11' | Goal for Harefield. Richard Pacquette.

09' | All of the early pressure is coming down the right hand side for Wembley, with Fehmi-Gil and Moore linking up well.

08' | Another corner to Wembley, this time Swash with the cross, but he can’t find anyone.

05' | Wembley have a corner whipped in by Jones, which is tipped over by Ballheimer.

00' | We’re underway!

Kick off has been delayed by a few minutes due to a hole in Charlie Wealands net. Players from both sets of teams are kicking a ball around to stay warm in these cold conditions.
