For the first time in 305 days, Wrexham dropped points at home as Woking managed a draw on their travels. Goals from Padraig Amond and Rhys Browne were enough to stop the Welsh side’s 16-game winning run, at The Racecourse.

The Cards got off to a flyer when Josh Casey’s corner was flicked on by Rohan Ince and found Amond who was ready to nod home from a close distance. This was Woking’s first goal in Wales since January 2017.

James Daly had a great chance when he intercepted a loose ball from 20 yards out, but his eventual effort went narrowly wide.

The home side’s first chance came when Jacob Mendy almost scored from far out, but Craig Ross made a huge save to push the ball onto the post and away from any further danger.

The Red Dragons were back on levels terms though when a superb free kick from Anthony Forde nestled into the top right-hand corner, leaving Ross stranded on his goal line.

HT: 1-1

In the second half, Wrexham was awarded a penalty after Luke Wilkinson fouled his man in the penalty area. The ever-so-reliable Paul Mullin stepped up and smashed the ball into the bottom left-hand corner to put his side in front, for the first time in the match.

Joe McNerney thought he had got his boyhood club back on level terms when he scored moments later, however, the referee pulled the play back for a foul.

Another chance fell the visitor’s way when Browne got on the end of a long ball behind the defence, but his effort struck the side netting.

With ten minutes left on the clock, James Daly was hacked down in the penalty area and Woking was awarded a penalty of their own. Browne stepped up and sent Mark Howard the wrong way to send the 232 away faithful into euphoria.

Ex-Woking academy striker Ollie Palmer thought he had won it at the death when his headed effort was on target, but Ross collected the ball to seal a fantastic performance from the Surrey outfit.

FT: 2-2

This result really does show how far the club has come in a short space of time. The fact some fans felt hard done by that they didn’t take all three points, really does show how magnificent this squad is.

15 games to go and playoffs look as though they’ll be heading to Surrey for the first time in the near future! #COYCards
